A free-phone dialysis helpline is available on . Any person who needs dialysis in the metropolitan area of Christchurch and is at risk has been moved to the North Island.

In the future chlorination may be a potential issue for people on dialysis, however, it is very manageable as filtration can be fitted to the dialysis machine. If staff have any concerns about dialysis patients they can contact Adrian Buttimore, Dialysis Services Manager at Christchurch Hospital on 03 and ask for Adrian to be paged on 8202
